Well it's been a hectic few weeks since my original post.

Let me get everyone up to speed.

Sunday June 26 was a blast! 85 people attended the public walk-a-bout of the Bowen Island golf course and heard the president of the golf association, Bruce Russell, myself and my buddy Victoria Fawkes talk about our partnership to raise money for Cops for Cancer. Victoria shone brightly and wowed the crowd with her poise and warmed their hearts with her telling of her experience of Camp Goodtimes.

With Victoria's speech being a tough act to follow, I strode up to the tee and let loose with a mighty swing. Thankfully, I didn't duff the ball and actually sent it down range.

With the support of the crowd on hand and others who sent donations in lieu of being able to attend the event, it appears the likelihood of raising approximately $4000.00 was accomplished.

Representatives from the Canadian Cancer Society who were on hand at the course were again blown away by this little island's generosity, saying they'd like to bottle Bowen's enthusiasm and use it in the city.

For pictures of Victoria, me and Bruce, you can check out our local paper, the Bowen Island Undercurrent at www.bowenislandundercurrent.com

Thank you to everyone who pledged my 'drive' and bought the blue 'Together Strong for Kids' wristbands.

If anybody is interested in getting a wristband, they are available at the Detachment and will soon be available at coffee houses and restaurants in Snug Cove.

Until later,

Mike
